North Cobb Magnet Visits UGA & Georgia Tech!

Our Magnet program had an incredible day touring two of Georgia’s top universities—UGA and Georgia Tech! We started the morning in Athens with a guided campus tour at the University of Georgia. It was a beautiful walk through campus, and even more special because we spotted so many familiar faces. We ran into alumni Betty, Olivia, Ciara, and several more, all of whom were excited to share their college experiences and reconnect with their North Cobb roots.

After the tour, we enjoyed lunch at UGA’s Oglethorpe Dining Commons. The staff there could not have been more welcoming, and the food was delicious—our students had plenty of options, and the friendly, accommodating atmosphere made the experience even better.

From Athens, we headed straight to Atlanta, where our afternoon was spent exploring Georgia Tech. Two of our very own North Cobb Magnet alumni, Allison and Tanju, were our guides, and they did a beautiful job leading us around the campus they now call home. Their pride in being Yellow Jackets was contagious, and it was inspiring to see how their North Cobb experience continues to influence their academic and personal journeys.

Along the way, we bumped into even more Magnet alumni—Jack Scafidi, the Santiago twins, Isabel O’Connell, and several others. Every single one of them radiated happiness and confidence in their college life, and they all shared a common message: being a North Cobb Magnet Warrior prepared them for success. They spoke about how the International Studies travel experiences gave them unique skills—problem-solving, adaptability, and a growth mindset—that set them apart and help them thrive in college.

It was truly heartwarming to see so many of our graduates doing so well and to watch our current Magnet students imagine themselves in their shoes. This tour was not only a chance to visit two fantastic campuses but also a reminder of the lasting impact of our Magnet program.
