Our magnet 9th grade students enjoyed an amazing day of immersive cultural education as we explored the world at our doorstep! Beginning with a guided tour of the mandir at BAPS Shriswaminarayan in Lilburn, we explored the Hindu religion that will feature in our AP Human culture unit. After a stop at the Buford Highway International Farmer's Market to taste global cuisine and differences in tastes around the world, we ended with a historically unique chance to hear from an American veteran from World War 2 who helped liberate Jewish concentration camps in Germany. It was a poignant and awe-inspiring way to begin our study of religion, language, and ethnicity!
